Give Her A Listen: Katelyn Tarver

unnamed

Katelyn Tarver is no stranger to the performing arena, acting and appearing on the silver screen from a young age. Yet, it’s songwriting and music that has her heart and where her Southern-yet-bright spirit strikes a cord to realize the imaginative, wondering thoughts of Dreamers everywhere.

As she shares below, her new single (released earlier this week) is more than just a catchy melody woven together with upbeat piano notes — though it most certainly could stand alone as such — but it’s also about the real life rhythm that so many of us try to keep step with. With a clear sense that her work has and continues to evolve, give her a listen and we think you’ll agree; Katelyn’s creating her own sound with wisdom beyond her years, and we love it.

A note from Katelyn:

This [Weekend Millionaires] was one of the last songs I wrote for my album. We started with the title and went from there. I wanted to write a song about my experience with living in a culture that you can never keep up with. Where we’re all chasing a dream, living in crappy apartments, buying the expensive dress but keeping the tag in, getting into the party because your friend’s friend’s other friend said he’d get you in, and that person you NEED to meet will be there … the never ending pursuit of wanting to feel important.

It’s a cool song. I’d like it more if she used less auto tune. But I guess it fits with the theme of the song: striving for perfection and losing some authenticity in the process.
