We’ve long been fans of Krochet Kids intl, an organization that seeks to empower and uplift through gifts that give back. Women in northern Uganda and Peru are provided with jobs, education, and mentorship as a result of KKi’s offering of select knits, hats and bags. Each item is individually handmade with a tag signed by the woman who created it, instilling a purposeful model where “…work provides worth, education breeds innovation, and mentorship nourishes relationship…”.
Most recently, KKi has partnered with VSCO to provide limited edition red, silver and black beanies. 100% of the profits will benefit women working in Peru. On a recent trip there, the VSCO team was able to connect “…with a woman named Pilar Vila. Pilar’s story is similar to many of her peers. Before partnering with KKi, she struggled to provide for her family. Her life has since been transformed, and through her hard work, she is able to sustain a lifestyle of opportunity for her children and send them to school. She was very proud to show us her home and to introduce us to her kids.”
